This Year’s National French Week is Art-Inspired

S.A.
St. Luke’s World Language Department hosted National French Week from Oct. 30 through Nov. 3. This year’s theme focused on Francophone art. Throughout the week, students could participate in various French art activities each day during lunch.

Activities included:
  • African bógólanfini mud cloth making
  • Impressionism matching game
  • "Fabrique un Fantôme," a ghost puppet-making activity
  • Painting using pointillism, a technique from the Neo-Impressionism art movement in France
  • Mancala, a fun, hands-on game that is commonly played in Francophone countries in Africa
French students in grades seven to 12 even saw LeFLOFRANCO in concert live at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven. LeFLOFRANCO is an international music star who performs hip-hop around the world. As LeFLOFRANCO shared on his Instagram account, “Always wanting to give credit where credit is due, this magnificent dreamy moment was possible thanks to the great efforts of my new friends Evan Downey and Jon Shee from St. Luke’s School! Thank you for the invitation, your passion, meticulous approach, and warm hospitality!! 🙌🏾 To host three guys is one thing, but to host 30+ schools is another!!! NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING! Seriously.”
